NO BORDERS

Borders is shutting down in Sydney. It breaks my heart when I see book stores close down, one of my locals shut down not too long ago as well.

Borders has gone into administration, and everything is 40% off. I dropped $300 on books over the weekend. It hurt my bank account, but I see them as investments and I love books too much.

I would cry an ocean if Kinokunya or Ariel book shops were ever to go under.

Have you ever wondered what friendship truly is? Don’t you think that friendship or the formation of a friendship is a truly strange and wonderous thing? Like a blossoming flower or a growing of a seed…you don’t actually know if it will grow to something beautiful or great or into a mere weed?? Two complete strangers sharing a few laughs, a few moments of mere insights into who that person is? What they stand for? What they like? What they love? What they hate? What they think is stupid? Two people encouraging each other…strengthening each other…supporting each other…and believing in each other when they themselves don’t….

Friendship can mean lots of things…it can be brief fleeting thing….a hello here and there…it can be life long…weathering all sorts of storms…all highs and all lows…I believe that it is us as individuals who decide who will be in our lives and who wont…and that ultimately we decide who we will fight to keep….

I myself know that I am blessed to have someone as amazing and as beautiful on the inside and out as Maybel…she puts me into perspective, will tell me exactly how it is…even when i dont want to listen…when i wont listen…when i feel like i cant bear to listen….she will get all up in my face and everything… she keeps me in line when I myself are being so stuborn, and people I am damn stubborn….or am just plain blind to things, I can be more than naive, she will remind me of my worth when I am feeling worthless…she is a true friend…which is a rare find in this sometimes cruel yet bewildering beautiful world…

The Other Half...

Hello Universe,

I’m Maybel, the other half of Felt.

I think you’ll be able to distinguish us very easily. Felt, such an appropriate name. As she feels things, always reading between the lines, one of the most loving and expressive people I know and as you’ve already seen, an excellent writer. My soul sister.

I see things through pictures, phrases, quotes and minimal words. I’d best describe it as a Sofia Coppola film.

So you want to know who I am, what I’m like?

I’m a lover of art, a patron of it. I admire artists, their abilities, what they create and their influence to inspire people. I love illustrators, I wish I could draw but my inability to do so cancelled out that career path. Music, I can’t live without it. It always sets the mood for me. Family and friends, like music, I can’t live without, I would gladly die for them. That’s how much I love them.

Fashion I enjoy it, I don’t take it too seriously and I think it’s another form of expression. Books, I heart them. Libraries and bookstores are my solace; I could literally spend years there. God? I believe in him. I believe that he has created us to shine, to be our better selves. I will always lift everything up to Him. Travel, love love love it! The best way to experience different cultures, meet new people, and throw you out of your comfort zone.

Hates? Dislikes? Like Felt I hate that the hardest person to forgive sometimes is yourself and I hate that you can be your own worst critic.

The only other things I don’t really like is when people cut their nails in public, chewing loudly and people listen to music on high volume on public transport.

My background.…I’m a Communications major. I’ve had a lot of jobs… retail, in marketing, I have packed my bags and travelled the world. But now am currently working for a well known fashion label.

My philosophy on life? Be the best you can be, to respect people, to love life and art.

Hi there beautiful people…

Just wanting to give a BIG HELLO to the abyss of the world wide web…look im going to go off into a completely different tangent but…isnt it mindboogling how the internet works???!?…all wires and computers connected…its crazy…a whole new crazy exciting world in itself…so this is our space…our thoughts…our experiences…our perception of life and the things around us..

I am Felt of the Felt and Maybel alliance…exciting stuff..I tell ya!! I must warn you I ramble a fair bit…can be quite random…i know…

Not sure if you’ll find it interesting..but to me the world is my oyster…life is definately what you make of it…I try and see the beauty in all things..in people..in art..in music..in experiences..in everything…you could probablly say that I am an eternal optimist…be that a good or bad thing…i believe that if you have the confidence…you can rock n roll it!!! I believe in the power of the power of knowing oneself…I love my debates…love to laugh…live to laugh…

I believe that boredom is a pain…that boredom brings on vanity…I believe that there is not enough love in the world….so love freely, love wholeheartedly, that even though its hard to do…love like you’ve never been hurt before..

Hmmm hate is a strong word…that I seldom use…BUT

- I hate when you don’t learn from your previous mistakes…
- I hate that the hardest person to forgive sometimes is yourself..
- I hate it when people lie and you were foolish enough to believe them…

My background?

Workwise…I have been in sales for a fair bit now…business development…love it!!! Love my job…BUT..it is just that…a job…I love business…business structures…business systems…it is very interesting indeedy!!
Was not a very academic type of person…more of a social butterfly…but things do change…academic wise not social wise…what else to say? I dunno.

My definition of success…
